Biographical Sketch

Dr. Knepper completed a stroke fellowship at UPMC and helped to start the UPMC stroke service where she was a lead investigator of many pivotal stroke trials.  Dr. Knepper opened a general neurology practice, Neurology in the Berkshires, in Lenox, Massachusetts.  She returned to University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2011 and joined the headache division.  

She has a continued interest in medical education, as neurology clerkship director.  Completing extensive curriculum development and restructuring, Dr. Knepper served as the chair of a task force reviewing the integration of radiology throughout the four-year medical school program as well as developing new interactive online teaching tools. Dr. Knepper is a group leader in the integrated clinical science course and teaches in small groups in the neuroscience course, as well as a member of the Promotions committee, the retention committee, the learning environment committee and the curriculum committee.  She is the current chair of the 4th year elective subcommittee. Dr. Knepper has mentored numerous neurology residents and medical students and has been teaching competency based medical education for the past 5 years with presentations at AAMC, ICBME meetings. She is also a core member of the Women in Neurology group.
