Biographical Sketch
Dr. Knepper has an interest in headaches in pregnant women and secondary headaches. She performs nerve blocks and Botox injections in patients with chronic migraines. Dr. Knepper is vice chair of education in the neurology department. She was the prior neurology clerkship director and director of the fourth-year neurology electives. During this time, she updated the clerkship to focus on competency-based medicine and student reflection with goal setting, completing extensive curriculum development and changing the neurology clerkship to a four-week rotation. As a prior UPSOM curriculum committee member, Dr. Knepper served as the chair of several medical school task forces which included one assessing integration of radiology throughout the four-year medical school program, a curriculum reform task force and a task force reviewing how students’ study during clinical clerkships. She was the chair of the 4th year elective subcommittee for the medical school, each year reviewing elective enrollment and student evaluations for three years. Dr. Knepper continues to precept and mentor numerous neurology residents, medical students and fellows, teaching competency based medical education for the past 10 years. Her medical education research resulted in presentations at AAMC, ICBME and AMME meetings. Recently she has developed a monthly medical education forum for neurology clinician educators which includes peer mentoring. She is a member of the department promotions committee and assists many faculty in the completion of their promotion packets. She has completed the UPMC leadership and the UPMC peer coaching programs. She is a current member of the vice chair LCME preparation committee as well as the UPSOM student assessment committee.
