The Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials, or NeuroNEXT is a national network of centers that conduct multi-center human clinical trials for neurological diseases and is funded by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). As part of this phase of NeuroNEXT, each center will offer a fellowship program to foster the development of neurologists conducting clinical trials.
This is a 1-year fellowship for early-stage investigators (post-residency fellows or junior faculty) that includes seminars, mentoring, and direct experience in clinical research and trials. The fellowship program curriculum is individualized to meet the learning needs of the fellows and time availability and takes advantage of the many clinical research training opportunities offered throughout the University of Pittsburgh and the NeuroNEXT research network. Fellows participate in a mentored project, such as an ongoing clinical trial and are encouraged to attend the NINDS Clinical Trials Methodology Course. Funding is available for $20,000 of salary support to provide protected time to participate in human clinical research career development. This request for applications is for the 2023-2024 academic year that begins on July 1, 2023.
To be considered for the fellowship, interested individuals should complete the application and submit their CV. While a definitive research project proposal is not necessary to be selected for the program, candidates who can effectively articulate their interest in clinical trials and research will be strongly considered. Support from the candidate’s Program Director (if in fellowship) or Division Chief (if faculty) will be requested prior to acceptance into the program. The deadline for applications is November 5, 2023 @ 11:59 PM.
